Casualties: 4 officers and 4 seamen.
Following the loss of a ship offshore Halifax, probably due to a mine, the Clayoquot's crew was recalled and dispatched for an eventual minesweeping. This abruptly interrupted the crew's on shore leave. Eight people did not get to enjoy Christmas with their families.
